1 | 2 Advent Wreath Making Workshop
Please plan to attend our annual Advent Wreath Making Workshop on Saturday evening, December 2, at 5:00 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Church. This is your annual opportunity to make a tabletop Advent wreath for your home. All materials will be provided. The wreaths will be blessed by Deacon Michael Malfitano. Preregistration is required; sign up on the sheets at the entrances to our churches or call the office at 860-274-8836. A $5.00 donation is requested for each wreath. Our Life Teen Life Night on Saturday December 2nd will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church for the construction of advent wreaths at 5:00 PM and the regular Life Night will follow immediately after in the Rev. John Carrig Memorial Hall. There will be free pizza for our teens; all high school age teens are welcome. All high school age teens (grades 9-12) are invited to a night of faith and fun in Fr. Filip Hall, downstairs in St. John the Evangelist Church. Our ministry seeks to give teens a place to connect and to be nourished in their continued faith journey as they receive the sacrament of Confirmation and grow into adulthood. Life Nights take place every other Saturday at 6:15pm, following the 5pm mass. We hope to see you there! |
17 Lessons and Carols
Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 17 2023 at 1:00 pm St. Mary Magdalen Church The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a service of Scripture and song that dates to the late 19th century. In this service, we listen to seven Scripture lessons which recount the Fall, the promise of a Messiah, the Incarnation, and the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each lesson is followed by a carol or other song that reflects on the lesson's message and a brief prayer. The combined lectors and the choirs of St. Mary Magdalen Church and St. John the Evangelist Church will join together in presenting this traditional service of the Advent Season. Donations will be accepted for the Choir trip to Italy in April. The service will be followed by a light reception in the St. Mary Magdalen Church Hall. All are invited to join us!
